England’s Dave Gregory stormed into the UK Open Semi-Final when he bulldozed the field in the first heat of the 888.com UK Poker Open.

Gregory, who recently finished 3rd in the EPT in Barcelona has had a string of bad luck in TV tournaments but finally turned the tide and is now a strong favorite for the $250,000 first prize.  

In a fiery exchange, Celeb winner Billy Murray was first to go when Gregory hit trips on the flop and Murray’s all in move on the river was eventually called and “Take-Away” Dave took an early lead. Achilles Kallakis then became the aggressor and quickly moved into second place when an all in bluff on the turn made Nathan Lee fold his two pair. Lee never recovered and was second to go out in 5th. Andy Greekfish supplied some great entertainment at the table but failed to pick up many hands and when he moved all in from the big blind for 60,000 with A5, he was quickly called by Gregory’s Q10. A 10 on the river crushed the Fish and pushed him out in 4th place. With internet qualifier Simon Prior becoming low stacked, the main battle was between Gregory and Kallakis and when the Greek re-raised Gregory’s pre flop raise all-in “Take-Away” immediately made the call with his K 10 and was delighted to see he had his opponent dominated after he showed Q 10. Kallakis was out in 3rd and it gave Gregory a massive chip lead over internet qualifier Simon Prior. With both players waiting for the chance to move, Prior raised with AK and Gregory moved all in with pocket 3’s. The 3’s held up and the river was greeted by a roar from Gregory who now moves into the first semi-final heat on October 6th.
