The PKR Heads-Up Grand Slam starts on Sky Sports 2 and HD2 at 10pm, Tuesday 5 January - kicking off eight weeks of top class heads-up action between the world's best players.  PKR Heads-Up Grand Slam on Sky Sports every Tuesday
The opening two hour show sees two online powerhouses collide as Luke "Full Flush" Schwartz takes on WCOOP champion Yevgeniy Timoshenko get the action underway. Tom "Durrrr" Dwan takes on WSOP heads-up runner-up John Duthie in a fascinating clash, while Annette Obrestad and Ian Frazer also lock horns. Sammy "any two" George takes on EPT Dortmund winner Sandra Naujoks, and the final match in the opening instalment of the Matchroom Sport organised event sees Dutchman Lex Veldhuis face Nam Le.
Over the eight week stint, 32 players battle it out for the $100,000 winner's cheque from a prize pool of $350,000 - with PKR adding $30,000 to the pot.
The deep structure will let the players demonstrate their full repertoire of skills and the knockout format promises to offer some mouth-watering clashes. Among those aiming for the top prize in London are JC Tran, triple-crown king Roland de Wolfe, Antonio Esfandiari , Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott, Neil Channing, Juha Helppi, Tony G, Peter Eastgate, Vicky Coren and Phil Laak.
"We have been looking at creating a heads-up event for a while now and I'm excited that we have the formula just right," said Eddie Hearn, managing director of Matchroom Sport. "The poker played throughout the tournament was of the highest calibre and it makes for must-see television."
