Renaut drives through to final table spot - 21/03/2010
French poker journalist Claire Renaut will take over one million chips into the final of the PartyPoker.com Women’s World Open IV, joining Helen Firth as the two players through from the first heat.
Renaut takes 1,275,000 into Tuesday afternoon’s six-handed final table while Firth – winner of the Betfred Ladies Poker Tour – will hold 325,000, with the winner of the final pocketing $30,000.
The 24 player tournament kicked off with a strong opening heat as defending champion Aisling Collins and the most feared female player in the game Annette Obrestad sat down in the first of three eight-handed heats. Laurence Grondin was a player to watch after finishing third in the $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em event at the WSOP, and experienced tournament player Lynne Beaumont also featured in heat one.
Beaumont was the unfortunate victim in the bubble in third spot – to see how the action unfolded, you can view the hands at in the Live Reporting section.
