Heat 2 of the PartyPoker.com World Open II and what a game it was! With Tony G at the table anything can happen.

Tony started of well being aggressive, talking a lot and trying to put the others off their game.

We didn’t have to wait to long for the first real hand. Tony G held 5, 7 off suit and raised. Barry Hearn called with his pair of six’s and “Take Away” Dave Gregory re-raised with his pocket Queen’s. Tony folded Barry Hearn went all in and was called straight away by Dave. The flop, turn and river were no help to the “Guvnor” and he was left with a small stack.

Barry then doubled up twice gaining some revenge by taking some chips of Dave Gregory. He was now up to 70,000 chips.

Roy “the boy” Brindley was playing fairly tight and was eventually caught out. He called the big blind with his J, 8, but Tony G held the best hand possible the pocket rockets. He raised it up and Roy called. The flop came down 2, 7, J giving Roy top pair, he checked, Tony bet and Roy went over the top and raised only for Tony to go all in. Roy thought long and hard and made the call, if he didn’t hit he would be out. The turn and river didn’t help him so he was the first back to the green room.

The students of the game Kevin Deikoff and Stefan Rapp were playing well and taking pots down.

Barry was then all in with A, 9 and Tony immediately called with A, 10. The flop came down K, 4, 6 no good to Barry. The turn a 9, Barry now in the lead wit a pair of 9’s. One card could save Tony and he hit it a 10 on the river sending The Guvnor packing.

Tony then showed his dominance by taking out Dave Gregory, and what a way to go out. Holding A, Q Dave raised Tony raise – Tony holding K, 10 – Tony then calling. The flop showed 5, A, Q giving Dave 2 pairs he checked, Tony called all in and like a whippet Dave called. The turn came down a K, Tony now had more outs, a J for a straight or another K for trips. The river came down and all was there to see a J giving Tony a straight. With Tony a massive chip leader could the students pull him back?

Steffan Rapp was low in chip and went all in with 10, 5 off suit. Dieckoff went all in with his pair of Jacks. No cards came down to help Steffan and his was going back to his books.

Heads up between Tony G and Kevin Dieckoff, this would be one off the greatest comebacks off all time if Dieckoff could pull it back. He brought out his sunglasses hoping they would help, but a few hands in it was all over. Kevin went all in with Q, 7 suited and Tony called with A, 3. Tony hit a 3 on the flop and the turn and river came rag rag, sending Tony through to the Semi Finals and giving him a chance at $200,000 first prize.
