Marty Smyth wins $10,000 PLO bracelet - 02/07/08
Irishman Marty Smyth has won the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha World Championship bracelet at the WSOP in Las Vegas.
Smyth scoops over $850,000 for his win to add to the $250,000 he won recently at the PartyPoker.com World Open IV and his Irish Open title last year. Marty rivered a king high flush to take the PLO title against heads-up opponent Peter Jetten.
“It seems so surreal,” said Marty. “This was my main hope for the WSOP as I do play a lot of Omaha and I think there were a lot of Hold’Em players sitting there because they play every event. I was never huge but never any less than average and I don’t remember getting cruelly outdrawn in any hands and that is pretty lucky to go the whole way though the tournament and win all the 50-50/60-40 hands and that’s what you need at the end.”

Premier League Poker II final table ends tonight! - 01/07/08
The final table of the PartyPoker.com Premier League concludes tonight on Channel 4 at 00.25, withTony G the commanding chip leader on 530,000.
Tony G was chip leader going into the final table after finishing top of the league. Second in chips was Andy Black, followed by Russian sensation Alexander Kravchenko, “Flying Dutchman” Marcel Luske, Roland De Wolfe and then Annie Duke. Play started off fast with big bets and big pots but Duke was first to go after 49 hands. The much fancied Kravchenko raised pre-flop with 78 suited. Duke re-raised all-in with AJ off-suit with a 7 on the river giving the Russian two pair and sealing her fate after a QQ came on the flop. Tony G and Roland De Wolfe have both increased their chip stacks while Andy Black, Marcel Luske and Alexander Kravchenko have all taken hits.
A PartyPoker.com spokesman said: “The short stack has fallen but in Annie Duke a very dangerous player has left the table. There is a lot of play left but Tony G remains in the box seat, the same place he was at the start of the final table.”
