FLOOD RUNS THROUGH TO SEMI'S

Liam Flood
Liam Flood washed away his opponents as heat 10 of the PartyPoker.com European Open III had somewhat of an Irish feel to it.

It was Graham “the Machine” Smith who came out firing early on, but the experienced Flood held the chip lead after the first level of blinds.  Shane Harker who won his seat at the Bridge Club Bandbridge,  started to play aggressive as soon as the blinds went up too 2000/4000.  He then ran into Liam Flood who stopped him in his tracks and knocked him out.  Harker held Qh Ac and Flood Ks,Kh.  The board showed 10s, Qd, 3d, 8d and 7s.

Graham Smith then won six out of the next seven pots to put pressure on Flood.  He then proceeded to knock Tim Blake out.  Tim went all in with Ac, Ks and the machine called with As, Qs.  The flop came down 9s, Kd, 4s, the turn an 8h.  Smith needed a diamond to make the flush and it came on the river.  He now had the chip lead with $271,000.

Ten hands later and Spencer Carrington who qualified via a satellite in Marbella , was knocked out by Flood.  Carrington held Ah, 5d and went all in, Flood called with Queens and he hit on the river to give him trips.  The battle was between Smith and Flood, even though Paul Scullion was there.  Flood disposed of Scullion when his Qs, Jd beat Scullion’s Qc, 7h.

Not many flops were seen heads up and it lasted 16 hands.  It was an epic battle between the two, not just heads up but throughout the whole game.

The final hand of the game saw the Machine hold Kc, 4s and Flood Qc, 9s.  the flop came down Kh, 2s, 9h.  Smith went all in and was called by Flood, the turn came down a Q giving Flood two pair and only a King would save Smith, it didn’t come and it was the “Gentleman” Liam Flood that made it through to the semi-finals.
