HEWSTON WE HAVE NO PROBLEM
Heat 8 of the 888.com UK Poker Open III saw a mixed line up as Clemens Schick, the latest villain in the new Bond movie Casino Royale took to the table. Joing him was Jonny Texas Hewston, Andy Black, Mohammed Shafiq, and two onliners Ian Cook and Jesper Kristiansen.
Schick an absolute beginner at the game, started well re raising Andy Black when he hit his queen on the flop. He was the early chip leader with 145,000.
Schick the picked up pocket Jacks and re raised, Hewston went all in with pocket 9’s, Schick thought long and hard and folded.
The first casualty came when on liner Jesper Kristiansen raised with 6,4, Schick re raised with A,5 and was called. The flop showed 8d,5,6d. Clemens raised, Jesper went all in and Clemens called. The turn came down 5s and the river 7d, giving Clemens the flush and sending Jesper to the green room. He then lead with 214,000.
Andy Black then took the lead when he doubled through Clemens Schick. Black was all in with A, Q and Schick A, 5 and when a Q came on the flop it hurt the German and put the Irishman is strong position.
Mohammed Shafiq who was being very aggressive at first was then caught out when he re raised Andy Black, Black went all in and Shafiq called. Black showed a, J and Shafiq showed Q, J. The board showed 4, K, 8, 2 and 6.
The blinds were at 5, 10 when Hewston doubled up through Black. Hewston was all in with Q, 10 and Black called with 7, 7. The board came down A, 8, J, K, 3 giving Hewston the straight.
Schick was then the next to leave, and there was no embarrassment in his first appearance. Black raised with his pocket 8's and Schick re raised all in with K, 8. Black called and the board failed to help the new movie star. Black was now well in control with 428,000 in chips.
Ian Cook who was quiet through out the game then doubled up twice and put himself back into contention.
Black was knocked out when he was all in with 9, 4 off suit and Cook held the rockets. The board failed to help Black, and after such a great start was left wondering how he failed to take the heat.
Heads up started with Heswton with 454,000 to Cook’s 146,000.
It was all over fairly quickly, Hewston with J, 7 raised Cook all in and Cook called with the ducks. The flop came down 6, 4, J giving Texas Hewston the lead. Cook needed the deuce to win but it failed to come down on the turn and river.
Hewston seems to have a knack at the 888.com UK Poker Open as he made the Semi Final last year, he joins Simon Zach in this years Semi. Let’s see if he can go one better.
