Jesse May's WSOP blog - Wednesday 18 June
Wednesday at the WSOP
11:00 Had my first really bad beat of the WSOP today. Eighteen months ago they had the liquidation auction for the Stardust online. At the time, we thought we would be hosting a TV show in Las Vegas for the WSOP and set about buying a TV set from Stardust classic items. We purchased, among other things, six high backed purple velvet bar stools from the William B Steakhouse, a colored circles brass sculpture from the Stardust floor circa 1965, a champagne bucket, a Stardust lounge coffee table, a twelve foot mural of Las Vegas in 1906, and several framed pictures at a cost of many thousands of dollars. Everything was put into storage here in Las Vegas. Yesterday I went to the storage facility to view our loot and was told that because of a problem with our credit card nine months ago, everything in the storage facility had been sold at auction. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am to find this out.
13:00 Took out my disappointment by going to a Fillipino buffet. All the Fillipino food you can eat for $6.99 . I don’t think there was any dog, but certainly plenty of fish heads. Good eating.
Downtown is starting to fill up. Ran into Simon Trumper in the Golden Nugget spa this morning. He’s here for a week with his 23-year old son and playing the Omaha today. Seemed in very good form. Also saw Paul Parker, who has been in Vegas for three weeks but only moved to the Golden Nugget this morning. I’m guessing he will join the cocktails brigade that has become the daily fashion at the Golden Nugget each evening. Paul was wearing red trousers, which is pretty standard for him. Simon was only wearing a bathrobe.
Found a place to do laundry for only $1.45 per pound, including fluff and fold. For that price, it’s almost worth sending it back and forth from London.
I know I sad I was going to the Rio yesterday. Today I’m really going to the Rio. Phil Ivey is flying in the Omaha and I want to see what a man who’s lost two million dollars on the Lakers looks like.
