Orient boys victorious in Poker Million
Chris Pope and Steve Watts won the two Ladbrokes Poker Million seats up for grabs over the weekend at Leyton Orient.
After two days of fantastic poker in the east end, former Orient player Watts and the club’s commercial manager Pope were the last players standing and now go into the main event which begins at the end of July.
Some familiar faces adorned the tables over the two days, with the final table as follows:
330,000 Barry Hearn, 425,000 Steve Watts, 195,000 Andrea Holden, 605,000 Monkey Harris, 215,000 Chris Pope, 285,000 Kyla Kalmar, 540,000 Craig Burgess, 100,000 Nathan Lee and 805,000 Bill Davis
Chip leader Davis was the first to go, followed by Lee, Holden and Harris. Pope then knocked out Hearn for the second day running as the two seats started to creep into view. Burgess was short stacked when they went three handed after Kalmar left and had to push eventually, and when he did, Pope got the better of him to join the former striker in winning a seat.
