PADRAIG PARKINSON THROUGH TO SEMI’S
Another Bracelet winner Praz Bansi took his seat at the 888.com UK Poker Open III. He was joined by eccentric Padraig Parkinson, Gerlando Cacciatore, Dave Finney, and two online qualifiers Martin Cheese and Michael Wardell.
Parkinson and Bansi showed their class and experience early on as they dominated the table, whilst the two online qualifiers started cagy but were hanging on.
Wardell was first to leave the table, having gone all in with a pair of deuces he was called by Padraig Parkinson who held 8, J. The flop came down Q, 9, 8, giving Wardell the flush draw and Parkinson the straight draw. The turn cam down a 10 and the river a 10 giving Wardell nothing and Padraig the straight.
Dave Finney was the next to leave, holding 10,10d he went all in and was called by Padraig who had 8, KD. The board came, 6d, Qd, 9d, Jd, 3d. Padraig taking the pot with the K high flush.
After a fantastic start Praz was the next out. His A, J failed to hit when Padraig hit his Q on the flop. Padraig was now massive chip leader with 403,000.
Gerlando Cacciatore who fought back from 50,000 chips to come level and was all in with A, 7, Padraig called and he held A,10. The board came down 9, 9,4,9,5, giving Padraig the pot and sending Gerlando home on his 50th birthday.
Heads up between Parkinson and Cheese. Cheese had been very quiet but managed to stay in the game.
After 121 hands it was all over, and what a hand. Padraig held 2, J suited and Cheese 7, 6 of suit. The flop came down J, J, 6 they both checked, the turn came down a 6, WOW. All the chips went in, Cheese needing a 6 but the river came down an Ace and sent Padraig through. He will join Simon Zach and Jon Hewston in the second semi-final.
