PERSAUD, FENTON AND MAGILL THROUGH TO FINAL
Nick Persaud, John Magill and Scott Fenton are the first three players to make it to the Final of the PartyPoker.com European Open III.
With the top three players carrying their chips forward, all six players had a different strategy.
John Magill was almost out in the 14th hand, when his Kc, Qc ran into Nick Persaud’s Ah,Ks. Magill checked blind, and when the flop was dealt he didn’t look at cards, he just looked at Persaud. The flop showed 5h, 8c, Kd. Persaud bet and Magill called. The 6c came on the turn giving Magill the flush draw, again he was looking for a reaction but nothing, Persaud bet again Magill called. The river came down 7h and Magill lost the pot.
Scott Fenton played aggressive, and nicked a pot off “Take Away” Dave Gregory. Fenton raised holding 6c, 10c, Gregory re-raised with Ac, 10c and Fenton went all in. Gregory looked confused and thought about calling, but he laid it down.
Gregory was the first one out. All in with As, 3s he was called by Persaud who held Ah, Kd. The flop came down 6s, 10c, 4c, the turn was the 5h and the river the Js. Gregory walked and picked up $5,000.
Clive Layton was next out. “Let’s gamble” he said as he went all in with his pocket sevens, Fenton held Ah, 3s. The flop showed, 10h, kh, Qd, Layton was still leading but Fenton had outs. An ace flipped on the turn and that was the card Fenton was looking for. Layton needed that seven on the river but it came down the 9c and Clive walked away with $7,500.
The next player out would miss out on the final, and the unfortunate player was
Gez “Captain” Bailey. He picked up Ad, 4h and went all in. Persaud called with As, 10d. the came down 2s, 8d, 10,c 7c, and the Jd. Gez picked up $10,000 for his efforts. So the first three into the final were. Nick Persaud ($326,000 chips),
Scott Fenton ( $215,000 chips) and John Magill ( $59,000 chips).
