Sports Stars Challenge III - Footballers take to the table!
Only the footballers are left to play in the Sports Stars Challenge, with the final this evening.
Ray Parlour, John Aldridge, Lee Sharpe, Tony Cascarino, Norman Whiteside and Steve Sedgley will battle it out for the last place at the final table.
Darts player Wayne Mardle was the first man to reach the final table, beating fellow chuckers Phil Taylor, Peter Manley, Colin Lloyd, Alan Warriner-Little.
Kara Scott won the TV presenters heat, beating Soccer Saturday presenters Alan McInally and Chris Kamara, Darts pundit Rod Harrington, Soccer AM joker Andy Goldstein and female Polish Boxer and presenter Agnieszka Rylik.
England paceman Gladstone Small came out on top in the Cricket heat, beating Mark Ramprakash, Ed Giddins, Ali Brown, Min Patel and Steve Marsh.
It was a repeat of the 1985 World Snooker Championship final but this time it was Steve Davis on top against Dennis Taylor. Last year’s winner Ken Doherty, Mark Williams, Willie Thorne and Barry Hawkins couldn’t keep up with The Nugget, who may have the inside track on his fellow finalists as he has been commentating on all the heats.
Brad Drew won the battle of the Rugby codes – coming out on top against fellow League players Robbie Paul and Jamie Peacock and England Union lads Matt Dawson, Tom Voyce and Austin Healey, who won the first instalment of the show.
The event was kicked off by a group of football fans, with Sheffield United supporter Douglas Haig beating Sheffield Wednesday fan Peter Booth heads-up to win £7,000.
The winner of the Sports Stars Challenge III will take home £20,000, the runner-up £10,000 and third place grabbing £5,000 – and all the action will be on Sky Sports 2 in April.
